NO SMOKE Adds Director Nicolas Caicoya to Talent Roster
Director Nicolas “Nico” Caicoya has joined the talent team at motion content company NO SMOKE.
Caicoya’s spots have received accolades from national and international film festivals. “Associate No. 1,” a commercial he directed for Spanish professional football club Atlético Madrid, won a Bronze Cannes Lion and was shown at the Museum of Modern Art in New York and at the Reina Sofía Museum in Madrid. He also recently completed his first short film, “Hyena’s Blood,” and numerous spots for European, Latin American and U.S. markets.
Caicoya believes great ideas and collaboration with the agency, client and his team produce the strongest ads. A hands-on director, he has an eye for solutions that support creative. His work is infused with an unexpected hyper-reality and levity—and he has a sensitive hand with talent, which leads to strong performances. Caicoya’s subtle alchemy of wit, visual storytelling and cinematography set his work apart.
“Diego Cantú, our EP, introduced us to Nico’s work—they collaborated when Diego was on the agency side,” recounted Andrew Swee and Lou Addesso, NO SMOKE’s partners. “We were both very excited by Nico’s aesthetic sensibility—his gorgeous cinematography and the way he tells a story that is artfully directed yet uncontrived.”
NO SMOKE is representing Caicoya for all U.S.-based general market TV commercials, features, documentaries and branded entertainment. Prior to NO SMOKE, Caicoya was with Slim Pictures. La Banda Films represents him for Hispanic market advertising projects; and in Europe, his executive producer, Barbara Manfredini, Milan, represents him.
