The Nice Biscuits VFX team were delighted to work with talented director Alex Turvey on fashion designer Georgia Hardinge’s River Island Design Forum film.
The film launches Hardinge’s collection for her first high street collaboration. Taking the work of surrealist sculptor and painter HR Giger as her inspiration, Hardinge has designed a range of clothing and accessories featuring bespoke 2D prints which give the impression of 3D sculptures.
Nice Biscuits’ VFX artists Paul Wratten, Russ Shaw and Pete Young worked their magic to create the seamless effects needed for Alex and Georgia’s vision for the film. It features the supermodel, Ben Grimes dressed as a queen in a stunning white dress controlling and giving power to her naked subjects. They are transformed by the 2D printed clothes. The foreground of the set, featuring models and billowing fabric was shot in camera and then Pete created a number of set extensions including the patterned background. For this he emulated the 2D pattern on the bespoke fabric. To reproduce the billowing fabric around the models, he used different passes of the fabric to strip in to the set extension. Paul Wratten led the beauty work to ensure that hair, skin and product all looked flawless.
