Mr. Jukes Bursts Into Life With Dark, Psychedelic Music Video

Strange Beast director I Saw John First (John) has directed the first video released as part of Jack Steadman’s surprise solo project, Mr Jukes. The track, ‘Angels/Your Love’, features BJ The Chicago Kid collaborating with Jack in his next step after fronting the world-famous Bombay Bicycle Club.

With the visuals of this unique project taking such importance, this video captures the joy and exuberance of the collaboration between Jack and BJ, bursting in colours and fizzing with energetic transformations. Taking Jack’s input towards a dark ritualistic feel, John visualised the circle of ghost children, the eye imagery and the over-saturated visuals, all moving in time to the rhythm. 

The finished video pulls together bright, ghostly animation and footage of BJ in a surreal combination that twists and turns with the song. It builds towards the explosive finish with swirling patterns capturing the euphoria of the horns and vocals. Pushing the boundaries of what could be achieved, John used a mashup of techniques with frame by frame animation, rotoscoping, live action and 3D elements all interacting together.
