Lürzer’s Archive Releases Fifth Edition of '200 Best Illustrators Worldwide'

Lürzer’s Archive, the leading magazine for outstanding advertising, releases the fifth edition of their successful Illustration book '200 Best Illustrators worldwide'. Representing the artistically sophisticated craft of illustration in advertising.

Lürzer’s Archive announced the fifth edition of its special “200 Best Illustrators worldwide” at the beginning of this year. About 1,050 illustrators submitted their works for consideration; the 200 best are now presented in the book, divided into categories such as “advertising”, “cards”, “books”, “posters” or “products”.

Editor-in-chief Michael Weinzettl carried out a preselection of the submitted works.  The jury members assessed both creativity and draftsmanship of the illustrators, Michael Weinzettl, Matthew Eve (art/design historian and illustrator), Craig Frazier (Illustration Designer, for NY Times, Time Magazine, The Wall Street Journal, Adobe, U.S. Postal Service), Anne Telford (editor-at-large, Communication Arts), Gideon Amichay (Founder and CCO of NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, YES, New York and teacher at the School of Visual Arts in NY) and Tolga Büyükdoganay (CD and AD, Ogilvy & Mather/ Frankfurt am Main).

Illustrators from 67 countries have submitted their work, of which 40 nations are represented in the book. USA came first with 46 illustrators, Germany follows with 25, and U.K. is in third place with 18 artists.

“A frequent problem with periodic publications such as this title is that one tends to come across the ‘usual suspects’ over and over again”, says Editor-in-chief Michael Weinzettl. ”I am thus particularly happy to report that a stunning total of 130 artists showcased in this volume have appeared in none of the previous editions of 200 Best Illustrators Worldwide.”
