LIA 2016 Daily Diary: Day Two with Richard Denney
Executive Creative Director of MullenLOWE, London on day two of LIA 2016
The LIA Awards are taking place from the 6th October until the 14th. Over the course of the festival, different talent from the industry will give us their take on the day's events. Today, The ECD of MullenLOWE Richard Denney writes exclusively for LBB...
So, Las Vegas. An unbelievable place where anything is possible and anything goes.
At first you ask why would a Creative Awards show find itself in Vegas?
But when you see things like a Venice canal complete with Gondolas running through the centre of a hotel or Jeff Koons art on show in a hotel lobby free for all to see, you see that this place is a visual feast for the eyes and mind. It fits with creativity and those that push to do big bold things...
The LIAs never disappoints either with the caliber of judges it attracts across all categories. If you do win a LIA you know it has been voted for by the very best in the business.
Day two saw over a 1,000 pieces of work failing to make the cut. 380 pieces have survived and will be voted on today: 61 pieces in Billboard, 116 in Poster and 206 in Print. The jury is consistent in opinion on the work that is good and what is exceptional. We have brought back a couple of pieces of work that didn't get through thanks to positive discussion and second viewing as a collective. I'm really enjoying the jury and looking forward to tomorrow's day of metal discussion. There are some wonderful pieces of work across all mediums which will do these categories proud.
