Well, would you believe it, Amsterdam-based agency Kingsday is five years old!
The ‘new kid on the canal’ is no longer a start-up but a mature (well, let’s say a bit more mature) international agency with heaps of talented new people and a very respectable list of clients.
How on earth did that happen?
Well, a quick look back to September 2011, in the midst of a biting recession, four friends stood together in a muddy field on a grey cloudy day and opened a bottle of champagne to celebrate setting up their own agency.
These
‘brothers in arms’ were Sicco Beerda, Bram de Rooij, Eric Ytsma, and of course
Sander Volten. None of them knew whether to be ecstatic or petrified. Had
they screwed up their lives - never to be forgiven by their families - or
were they starting something really special?
Five years later, the sun is shining on the canals – the four partners are still at the helm - and it would appear that taking the leap into the unknown has paid off.
