ITB has partnered its clients Jaspal and Karl Lagerfeld to create an iconic capsule collection as the Thai fashion retailer escalates its brand collaborations. The limited-edition full womenswear range features Lagerfeld’s iconic silhouette and is reminiscent of the designer’s tongue-in-cheek caricature with playful designs in a signature palette.

As well as orchestrating the Karl Lagerfeld for Jaspal partnership, ITB, together with Jaspal, concepted 360 activations for an explosive launch of the collection. The designs were unveiled to the public with a series of epic launch events across 15 of Bangkok’s largest shopping malls, featuring catwalk shows and models adorned in the signature items of the collection. The 90-piece project includes clothing, accessories and footwear.

After carefully conducting research to understand Bangkok’s fashion culture, ITB sought to partner Jaspal with a designer that perfectly complemented Bangkok’s fun yet traditional style. Gavin Foster, Director of Licensing and Brand Extensions at ITB, travelled to Thailand to gain insight into the fashion trends and sensitivities of the location before securing Karl Lagerfeld to form the partnership.

Having worked with Karl Lagerfeld on previous projects, ITB partnered the designer with Jaspal. Gavin says: “Bangkok has a very different fashion culture compared the to west. The way its locals dress has fun, playful and tongue-in-cheek elements portrayed in a formalised way. So we aimed to partner Jaspal with a designer whose style that complemented the dress-sense of Bangkok’s citizens.” He continues: “Karl Lagerfeld’s pop-art style and patchwork application perfectly complements the tongue-in-cheek yet traditional fusion style of Bangkok.”
