Movie clichés. We’ve seen them over and over and over again. In fact, it’s hard to avoid them. Fortunately, there is a welcome alternative.
Starting this week, the 2015 Canadian Film Fest will be offering film buffs a host of fresh and original films.
This year’s Festival is being promoted with a 2-minute cinema ad and three television spots created by J. Walter Thompson Canada, produced by OPC, and directed by Jono Hunter.
The campaign features the fictitious ‘Academy of the Cliché’ – a place that specializes in teaching up and coming actors the tried and true cliché techniques of acting and film.
In the words of Clement Bishop, the Head Instructor at the Academy, “The Cliché technique is 100% reliable. Everything we teach has been done a million times before.”
At the end of each spot, the viewer is encouraged to ‘Escape the Cliché’ and to come to the 2015 Canadian Film Fest which runs from March 25 to 28 at Toronto’s Royal Theatre. The Festival is a non-profit organization devoted to the celebration, promotion and advancement of Canadian filmmaking talent.
