Feel the Burn in Fat White Family’s Music Video for ‘Work’

Produced by Somesuch and directed by CC Wade, the video tells a tale of obsession and a man’s relentless desire for greatness to the detriment of his life, his body and his sanity. With the idea coming from Fat White Family lead singer Lias Saoudie's childhood memories of watching Rocky IV on television during family Christmases.

As Lias explained, “There’s a scene in the third one - Rock III - where Rock has to accept he’s lost it, grown decadent, delusional, flaccid...Apollo Creed (RIP) has to drag his arse to LA to train him back up the old way, the hard way, the way it USED to be…Between both of these lessons one might learn everything needs to about life, about ambition, about success being nothing more than failure in drag…”

Brothers Michael and Paraic Morrissey (CC Wade) are South London’s answer to Powell and Pressburger. The director duo have a keen eye for surrealism, and a reputation for ambitious, daringly imaginative music videos. 

The duo began their career directing music videos for local artists in South London, including ‘Rock Bottom’ for King Krule, 'Voodoo Saloon' for Jerkcurb and 'The Man' for Goat Girl. 

In 2021, CC Wade directed their first commercial, an uncanny film for Maersk set in a literal ‘logistical nightmare’. As well as a joyful, rip-roaring music video for ‘Head on Fire’ by Sigrid and Griff.

The moniker ‘CC Wade’ was inspired by the Diane Arbus photograph ‘Identical Twins’. The brothers also perform in the band LL Burns.
