Fake Love Combines Light, Colour & Music in New Installation for Sonos

As part of its ongoing experiential work for Sonos wireless music systems, award-winning brand experience agency Fake Love unveiled a new case study highlighting a sonic interactive experience in New York and Los Angeles called PLAY, which brought to life Sonos’ tagline “Fill Your Home with Music.” The interactive experience took place at the Hohner Building, 475 Broadway in New York, and at the Sonos studios in Los Angeles. 

A Sonos system is designed to enable users to wirelessly control any song in any room of the house. In collaboration with installation artist Aramique, Fake Love conceived and created an experiential installation that combined digitized color washes, inventive lighting, bold fabrication and art direction and the latest wireless sound technology, to demonstrate how Sonos works. PLAY created pure white representations of a typical bedroom, bathroom, dining room and living room, each with a Sonos wireless music system and an iPad loaded with the Sonos app for visitors to try out. 

To create the experience of "seeing sounds," Fake Love constructed a custom algorithm to transcribe the audios into visuals. Upon entering into a room, each visitor chose a music track and watched as audio-generated color washes and vibrant animations were projection-mapped onto the walls and furniture of the room – creating a completely immersive music colorscape. Additionally, visitors were allowed to change the colors of each room by touching the customized Sonos speaker. They also had the opportunity to hashtag Instagram photographs of themselves enjoying the experience; which then appeared within the picture frames inside the installation.
