A conceptual promo, shot by Director Alex Boutell, was followed by clip based promos using footage from the actual programme. These were complemented by an extensive off-air campaign, featuring digital outdoor media screens in stations, shopping centres, petrol stations, trains, taxis and bus stops, as well as a significant online presence.
For the conceptual promo, ENVY Advertising's Head of Design Matt Lawrence developed a degraded analogue feel for the caption titles, which carried through to a bespoke endboard design. "Generating all the animated text elements for the Hunted promos and digital outdoor media screens, web banners etc. was challenging due to the volume of deliverables required on such a huge campaign, but it was a truly enjoyable experience messing with analogue tape again!"
The title sequences, CCTV and mobile screens were designed and composited into the final sequence in Flame.
For the clip based promos, several CCTV style FX and screen break ups were created to add drama. A bespoke endboard was designed to tie in with the off air campaign. Flame was also used to create a dark and moody grade, similar to the conceptual film, to complete the cohesive campaign.
Channel 4 also developed a case study film to show the wide variety of ways they have promoted their new show (from the original promo, right the way through to printed publicity on till receipts). Flame was used on this to composite TV, phone and poster shots and complete the grade.
The C4 Hunted project allowed Channel4's creative team to oversee their offline, 2d design, Flame and Sound design in one location at ENVY Advertising, with the departments working closely together to create a seamless work flow which included a complex set of deliverables.
The new series of Hunted begins on Channel4 Thursday 10th September at 9pm.
