The next generation of filmmaking talent has arrived, and among them is jumP's David Johnston. SHOOT’s 13th annual New Directors Showcase offers a total of 36 up-and-coming helmers filling 33 slots (30 individual directors, and three duos). Of this mix, 16 directors (12 individuals and two duos) are as of yet unaffiliated with a production company. On the other end of the spectrum, several are with established production houses including Biscuit Filmworks, Epoch Films, Rattling Stick, Skunk and Spy Films.
Two solo Showcase directors are accomplished editors who cut for mainstay editorial houses. The recognized Showcase work spans varied disciplines from TV commercials to shorts, music videos, spec spots, excerpts from feature films, cinema ads, branded entertainment and webisode fare. It’s a body of work that like in past Showcase years figures to make an impact on the advertising and entertainment marketplace.
