Two weeks after the Venice Film Festival, international jurors met in Venice for the annual Venice TV Award to celebrate this year´s masterpieces. The event is supported by IMZ (International Music + Media Centre), egta (European Group of Television Advertising) and ACT (Association of Commercial TV).
Following the arrival of streaming services, TV programming has undergone a massive shift, spurred on by consumer demand and leaving the global industry to react in kind. ”The quality of television programming today is better than ever through dedicated work by talented people and new ways to communicate. I am pleased that the Venice TV Award recognizes this“, said Sonia Rovai, Head of Scripted Production, Sky Italia.
Nominees from the United Kingdom were most successful, collecting 4 Gold Trophies: Sky won with “Chernobyl“ (co-produced by HBO) and with “Art of Drumming“ in the Performing Arts category. BBC took the Comedy award with ”Don’t Forget the Driver“ and also struck gold in the Youth section with "My Life I Will Survive“.
