Artifier app will help beutify your browser experience

Today, Bombay Sapphire launched the first-of-its-kind Google Chrome plug-in that instantly replaces banner ads with all new and original works of art created by emerging artists across the country.

The campaign, created by BBDO New York, started with a simple question: If art makes the world more beautiful, why can’t art make the internet more beautiful?  For the first time ever, Artifier will offer aesthetically-inclined users the ability to opt-in and discover a 'gallery' of emerging new artists while browsing their favourite websites.

In addition to instantly beautifying your browsers, The Artifier app – which features all-new and exclusive works of art submitted to the 7th Annual Bombay Sapphire Artisan Series competition – will also serve a functional purpose. If a certain piece speaks to the user, they are able to click on the painting to vote for that artist via the Artisan Series website. Similar to how brands understand your specific interests after visiting a site, Artifier will allow people to opt-in to view innovative works of art from the Artisan Series that resonate with them – instead of ads.

Launched in 2010 as a collaboration with Russell and Danny Simmons’s RUSH Philanthropic Arts Foundation, the Bombay Sapphire Artisan Series has been a driving force in fostering the talents of emerging multicultural artists by giving them an international platform to showcase their works. With the 7th Annual finale quickly approaching this December during Art Basel Miami, Artifier launches just in time for the public voting phase, which ends on Nov 7. The plug-in also extends the Artisan Series’ mission of supporting underrepresented artists on a national level.
