Anomaly celebrates the opening of “The Unfortunately Small Gallery”, a contemporary art space located on Herengracht 257 in Amsterdam. The exhibition space covers just 2.3 m2 – making it officially Amsterdam’s smallest gallery.
The gallery space is launched with the exhibition “1 to 6”. On show now, “1 to 6” is created by Dutch multidisciplinary visual artist Helmut Smits, and involves a dice, a copy machine and a whole lot of patience. Based in Rotterdam, Helmut Smits creates a myriad of different projects ranging from public installations, sculptures and product design. The show is on display until 5 April. Mark Sloan, Executive Creative Director, said: ”Our pint-sized gallery space will host different exhibitions every two months. The program includes both established and upcoming artists who have been inspired by the size of our space to create site-specific work. The aim is to generate dialogue and collaboration between artists and the creative industry. And have a bit of fun.”
