Final Frontier and Le Cube teamed up with BBH Singapore to create a frenetic animated series for Heineken®, celebrating the eclectic tastes of modern music fans.

Heineken’s® ‘Refresh Your Music, Refresh Your Nights’ campaign seeks to celebrate diversity and bring people of all tastes and cultures together though their shared passion for music and musical experiences. To deliver the message the beer brand brought in production company Final Frontier and animation studio Le Cube to create a spectacular series that encapsulates the synergy in fusing two seemingly contrasting genres.

Le Cube director Ralph Karam brought a multitude of art styles and trippy explosions of colors, employing the studio’s signature techniques, like exaggerated camera perspectives, unexpected transitions, and dynamic camera movements to send the viewer on a wild musical ride.

Karam said,

“In terms of art direction, we took inspiration from different cartoons and comic book styles, including Christy Marx, Ed Piskor, and Sean Murphy. We even snuck in our own take on Sean Murphy’s most classic work.”

"We applied visual styles that represented the musical genres that were portrayed. For jazz, we went with a crisp black-and-white color scheme and stylized linework. For hard rock, we incorporated the psychedelic Fillmore-posters style.”

“Just like the challenges posed when remixing different musical genres, the most challenging aspect for us was how to establish harmony while including many different art styles. Luckily, we could count on an incredibly versatile team of illustrators to make each style unique, while maintaining harmony across the board.”

Final Frontier Executive Producer Gus Karam said,

“In BBH Singapore we found a kindred spirit in terms of valuing craft and pushing creative boundaries, which made for a really rewarding collaboration. It was a joy to celebrate all kinds of experiences and lifestyles through two of our greatest loves, animation and music.”
