The hilarious spots inspire people to 'speak the languages like they've always wanted to'
Wieden+Kennedy London has created two new films for language learning company Babbel, taking inspiration from iconic movies and TV.

The playful 30” spots, which will launch in the UK on June 1 across TV, social and digital channels, reinforce Babbel’s positioning as the ‘conversation experts’ and build on W+K London’s successful 2016 launch campaign. The films, ‘Spanish Passion’ and ‘Wise Guy’, use familiar popular culture references to inspire people to “speak the language like they’ve always wanted to”.

Hollie Walker, Creative Director at Wieden+Kennedy London, said: “In our second campaign for Babbel we continue to bring people’s language fantasies to life – whether that’s working up the tempestuous passions of a Spanish señorita, or using authentic Italian charm to get out of a hairy situation.”

Arne Schepker, Chief Marketing Officer of Babbel, said: “The creativity and relevance of the new TV spots, which have launched in selected global markets, are beating the direct response performance of the DRTV spots.

“Over the past few months, we’ve seen a steady and sustained increase in our organic traffic. It’s reflected not only in brand awareness, but in sales figures: we’re growing faster than before. As such, we’re excited to see the UK reaction to the two new spots.”

Production was handled by Biscuit Filmworks and the films were directed by Jeff Low.
