Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy launches open air zone in Doha, Qatar

Leading global sports and entertainment marketing agency Wasserman Media Group in association with the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy, today announced the launch of the “Brazil 2014 Fan Zone at Katara” in Doha, inviting fans from across Qatar and the region to watch FIFA World Cup™ matches live in a state-of-the-art, purpose-built, cooled environment.

The open-air Fan Zone at Katara, which boasts a retractable roof, will show the last 16 live matches beginning June 28th through to the final match on July 13, on Qatar’s largest ever LED panoramic screen. In addition to the giant screen, the Fan Zone will showcase an innovative prototype of a cooled, technological and versatile multi-use venue for public congregation events that the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy is developing for 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar venues.

Wasserman was hired by Qatar’s Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy to design, construct, produce and manage the Fan Zone, which incorporates a unique immersive screening experience, as well as online pre-registration and a number of onsite activities linked with RFID (radio frequency identification). All events will be free and open to the public.

Paul Saville, Vice President of Wasserman’s Experience team, said: “It’s an honour to have the opportunity to deliver such ground-breaking work for the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy on their first test project on the road to the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar. The innovative venue design, cooling technology and immersive content experience wonderfully culminates to deliver a true journey to amazing under the stars.”
