The Young Director Award is the only award in the world aimed at promoting young directing talents

The Young Director Award (YDA) supports the Venice TV Awards to help breaking ground for upcoming directors and promote debuting international creative talent.

The CFP-E (Commercial Film Producers of Europe) along with its then President and henceforth Honorary Chairman, François Chilot, inspired and created the Young Director Award 20 years ago.

The Young Director Award is the only award in the world aimed at promoting young directing talents. As such, it paves the way, offering these new directors remarkable opportunities, maximising their global media coverage and, at the same time, heightening the awareness of various stakeholders and players in this profession, highlighting the fact that one of the most essential roles of producers is to discover, nurture and promote directors.

The support at the Venice TV Award focus on the category New Talent (Directors), dedicated to up-and-coming young filmmakers.

Other categories besides New Talent are Documentary, News, Light Entertainment, Program Promotion, Branded Entertainment, Sport, Children/Youth, Comedy, Reality TV, Best Of Technical High Quality, Cross-Platform Programming, Best Series and Best TV Movie.

The Jury at the international Venice TV Award is composed of leading international TV experts, judging the entries of their peers. Among them is Malin Häger, TV 4 Sweden, President of egta; Anke Greifeneder, Director Original Productions, Turner Central and Eastern Europe; Rohit Gupta, President, Sony Pictures Network India; André Takada, Vice President Creative Services Fox Network; Igor Tavares, Producer TV Globo Brazil; Barbara Aparo, Art Director, Fashion TV; Ute Biernat, CEO UFA Germany Show and Factual; Sapangeet Rajwant Senior Vice President, Viacom18 Media; Lothaire Burg, Creative Director, ARTE; François Chilot, Founder/President Les Producers, Honorary Chairman of the CFP-E, Instigator of the World Producers Summit (WPS), President YDA, director Paul Black, award winning TV Show Writer Sergio Spaccavento and other personalities.

The first Venice TV Award  is supported by egta, ACT (Association of Commercial TV), IMZ (International Music + Media Centre) and is seen as a statement that the TV Industry remains active and successful in today’s social media based society. In a changing Media-Landscape TV is still very effective and a cornerstone of peoples lives and democracy. This award will bring national and international recognition for quality content. The work the jury selects at the international VENICE TV AWARD sets the standard for creativity across the industry. Celebrating Masterpieces.

The Submissions in the New Talent Category do not have to be aired already on a TV channel.
