Venice TV Award Aims to Celebrates Masterpieces of TV

This event is born as a tribute to TV at a time when broadcast is challenged by multimedia

The first Venice TV Awardsupported by egta, ACT (Association of Commercial TV) and the city of Venice has been announced. 

egta and ACT are happy to provide especially as the motto of the award is “Together, proud to be TV” and an award will bring national and international recognition for the quality content of broadcaster, and to promote TV. It is time to give a statement, that the TV Industry is more than alive. Social media, mobile platforms are not the new television. Television is the new television. In a changing Media-Landscape TV is still very effective. And TV is a cornerstone of peoples lives and and of democracy.It is exciting to celebrate television programs with a passion for trade and media. This event is about to be born as a tribute to the TV creation, at a time when broadcast is challenged by multimedia.

And yet there is a current tendency that pushes television work to a level of cultural reference, more than any other artistic product in its time. The Venice TV Award has been started at a time when UHD contributes to the nobility of images and sounds.Venice has always inspired the best of creativity, it is the perfect stage outside the screen. Highlighting with this award that in Europe alone 600,000 people create TV programs reaching 610 million viewers daily across the continent on Europe’s 6,118 TV channels. Worldwide operate around 38,500 TV channels. The International TV Award 2018 will honour a medium that holds central place in the life of millions of people.

Focused on quality content for TV, there will be given a Gold Medal in each category and a Grand Prix for the best production. The jury at the Venice International TV Award is composed of leading international TV experts, judging the entries of their peers, Among others Malin Häger from TV 4 Sweden, President of egta; Ute Biernat, Head of UFA Germany; André Takada, Fox Networks; Igor Tavares, TV Globo; Lothaire Burg from ARTE; award winning director Paul Black. 

The work they select sets the standard for creativity across the industry. The deadline is June 30th 2018.
