This Dangling Doohickey Lets You Be Productive While Playing With Your Balls

Agency Imaginarte develops prosthetic accessory that lets you give your balls a good tickle at work

Holidays are the perfect excuse for doing the things that daily life normally gets in the way of: going to the same beach as every year, cremating steaks on the BBQ, taking up trekking without having a clue what that is, monging out watching a nine hour monster session of that series you read the spoilers for months ago. Or simply sitting around playing with your balls.

It doesn’t matter whether you have them or not. There are moments when we all, men and women alike, just need to play with our balls. So, what’s the problem? Returning to work after our much-needed holidays invariably means we just haven’t got the time for it.

That’s why Imaginarte, the communications agency, decided to create a galactic solution to the problem shared by millions of people, by collaborating with one of the special effects engineers for the Oscar-winning Gravity, Raúl Rodríguez Romeo.

The result is NiceBalls: a dangling prosthetic accessory that sticks easily, discreetly and efficiently to your desk. Its suspension rate creates a Euclidean curve that encourages relaxation and provides the few moments of escapism that we all need once in a while.

“The thing I miss most when going back to work is sitting around playing with my balls. Work is all about backlogs and stress. A few months ago we set about finding a fun solution to the problem,” says Antonio Piñero, Manager of Imaginarte. He adds: “The main idea was to find that difficult balance between being continuously productive whilst, quite literally, playing with your balls.”

Other Imaginarte workers say that, “in the manufacturing process, the most difficult tasks were defining size (which confirms that size is indeed important) and the NiceBalls feel test. We wanted the sensation to be as realistic as possible when touching them.” During the post-holiday work day, the entire team will lend a helping hand to turn the agency into the manufacturing workshop for NiceBalls.

Experts in the field of work psychology have concluded that a certain amount of inactive time is crucial for recapitulating, digesting and developing new ideas and experiences, but such moments are rarely available. In the University of Wisconsin, a number of researchers have discovered that there are some nerve cells that actually disconnect for long periods of time during activities that do not require their input. In other words, parts of the brain can actually 'doze off'.

NiceBalls is the first product designed to be launched completely out of stock. It will be available in an extremely limited collector edition that will be sent to hard grafters such as Amancio Ortega, Matilde Asensi, Ferrán Adriá, Clara Lago, Mireia Belmonte or Queen Letizia, to name but a few.
