International production company The Sweet Shop was named Production Company of the Year for the fifth consecutive year at last night’s New Zealand Axis Awards.
The ceremony, held at the Viaduct Events Centre in Auckland and celebrating the country’s best creative work over the past year, marked a highly successful night to kick-start the year for The Sweet Shop.
Director Campbell Hooper’s spot for Air New Zealand, ‘Men in Black Safety Defenders’, experienced huge success, winning a coveted Gold Axis for Animation, Design & VFX and Silver for PR, and suggested good things to come.
It was also a great haul for Mark Albiston and his beautifully crafted spot for Tokio Marine, ‘Yesterday/Today’ which was awarded Silver in Direction, Cinematography, Editing and Sound Design.
Steve
Ayson’s ‘Pop’s Gift’ for NZ Lotto picked up a number of awards on the night
including a Silver for Direction and Single TVC under 30”. The spot continues to
be a favourite with the Kiwi public.
The Sweet Shop is looking forward to the coming award season as these early Axis wins could be an indication of exciting times ahead.
