After nearly a decade at the helm of AlmapBBDO's
art department in São Paulo, Brazil, Eric Benitez has been lured to
the newly created head of art role at TBWA\Melbourne.
Benitez has
won multiple awards in both South America and also at Cannes, Clio,
D&AD and New York Festivals, and brings extensive experience in the
areas of fashion, automotive, airlines and consumer electronics. He has
worked on brands including Volkswagon, Ford, Pepsi, Mizuno and
large-scale Brazilian fashion franchises Marisa and C&A, as well as
Havaianas.
TBWA Melbourne chief creative officer, Paul Reardon,
says the appointment marks a turning point in the way TBWA Melbourne
will bring ideas to life.
Says Reardon: "This is a really big hire for us. Eric joins us as one of
the most senior creative leaders in the agency. He's here to guide and
assist us in applying world- class design and craft to everything we do.
"AlmapBBDO
São Paulo is one of the best agencies in the world. They've taken out
Cannes Agency of the Year twice since 2011, and Eric was the head of art
during that period. So he's clearly an amazing talent, but also a
genuinely lovely guy as well. We're honored he's chosen to join us."
Says
Benitez on making the move to Australia: "Being part of a team so
talented and focused as TBWA\Melbourne is a great pleasure. It will
certainly be a great and fun challenge for me."
Within the last
three years, TBWA Melbourne has enjoyed significant creative success -
particularly in Cannes - firmly placing the agency as a creative centre
of excellence within TBWA globally.
The agency is ranked #8 on the 2017 CB Hot List.
The addition of Benitez to
the Melbourne office is in step with TBWA's global push to have an
unfair share of the world's best design talent working within the TBWA
collective.
