Wieden+Kennedy’s Selfie Stick Rental Shop is open from 27th March - 7th April between 9.30am-6.30pm at their Annex Gallery space, W+K+, in Nakameguro. Hanami is the Japanese tradition of enjoying the blooming of the cherry blossom (known in Japan as ‘sakura’) and it's one of the biggest events of the year.
In recent years it has become one of Japan’s ultimate selfie opportunities, popular with locals and tourists alike, who walk around beneath the blossom trees taking pictures and partying into the night. One of the best places to see the sakura is alongside the Meguro river where the Wieden+Kennedy gallery, W+K+, is located.
It was this that inspired them to create the X-treme selfie sticks to celebrate the event, and they are encouraging people to share their pictures using the #SakuraSelfies hashtag.
Visitors to the shop can choose between four X-treme selfie sticks and rent them for free. The Windswept Selfie Stick, the Disco Selfie Stick, the Mirrored Selfie Stick, and the 4.5m Super Long Selfie Stick.
N.B The gallery is closed Friday 31st March and weekends.
