The record-breaking song leads the 60th annual Grammy nominations after being shortlisted for both Record and Song of the Year

“Despacito” is penned by Sony/ATV songwriters Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee and Erika Ender and has set a number of all-time records this year, including the most streamed song globally, most played video on YouTube and the joint most weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 after completing a 16-week chart-topping run.

The global phenomenon also earns Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee a third Grammy nomination in the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance category.

A number of other Sony/ATV songwriters prominently figure in the Grammy nominations, which were announced earlier today. They include Alessia Cara and Khalid who are both nominated for Best New Artist and are shortlisted for Song of the Year for “1-800-273-8255”, which is also competing for Best Music Video. Khalid is further nominated for Best Urban Contemporary Album for American Teen and Best R&B Song for “Location”, while Cara’s hit “Stay” with Zedd is in the running for Best Duo/Group Performance.

Sony/ATV songwriter and producer Jack Antonoff has nominations for the Lorde album Melodrama for Album of the Year, while he is shortlisted alongside fellow Sony/ATV signings Taylor Swift and Sam Dew in the Best Song Written For Visual Media Category for “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever”, which was a worldwide hit for Swift and Zayn Malik.

Taylor Swift has a further nomination for her song “Better Man”, which was recorded by Little Big Town. It is nominated for Best Country Song alongside Sony/ATV songwriter Miranda Lambert’s “Tin Man”, which is also shortlisted for Best Country Solo Performance.

Ed Sheeran will be looking to add to his two previous Grammy wins after picking up nominations for “Shape Of You” (Best Pop Solo Performance) and Divide (Best Pop Vocal Album), while six-time Grammy winner Lady Gaga has “Million Reasons” in the Best Pop Solo Performance category and the set Joanne in the Best Pop Vocal Album category. Triple Grammy winner Pink is in the same Best Pop Solo Performance category as Sheeran and Gaga with “What About Us”.

Sony/ATV’s Greg Kurstin follows an amazing night at this past year’s Grammy Awards when his accolades included Song of the Year and Record of the Year for the Adele smash “Hello”, Album of the Year for Adele’s 25 and Producer of the Year, Non-Classical by again being nominated in the Producer category. It is the fifth time he has been shortlisted for this award. He is also nominated alongside fellow Sony/ATV songwriter Sia for the song “Never Give Up” for Best Song Written For Visual Media.

Other Sony/ATV nominees include Arcade Fire, Cardi B, The Chainsmokers, Kenny Chesney, Leonard Cohen, Calvin Harris, Lana Del Rey, Residente, Thomas Rhett, Shakira, Sounwave, Stargate and Pharrell Williams.

The 60th annual Grammy Awards will take place at Madison Square Garden in New York City on January 28 next year and will be televised in the U.S. by CBS.
