App allows songwriters and their representatives to obtain real-time access to their current royalty account and historic earnings

Sony/ATV Music Publishing has launched a cutting-edge app for Android and iOS for its state-of-the-art royalty portal SCORE.

The new app means the company’s songwriters and their representatives can obtain real-time access to their current royalty account and historic earnings whenever and wherever they are and in superlative detail. The app is available to download from both the Google Play and iTunes stores.

Developed by the world’s leading music publisher, the app will make the experience of using SCORE on a mobile device or tablet even better and will further enhance the portal’s status as the best in its class by providing the company’s writers and their teams with on-the-go access to the most comprehensive data yet about their royalty earnings.

Via the app, Sony/ATV’s songwriters will be able to gain real-time access to their current royalty account, rather than having to wait until the end of any statement period. Account information is constantly updated, so writers can see their latest earnings from all sources as soon as the company receives them. Also available is an unparalleled overview of historic earnings information that can be searched and organised by song title, income source, time period and territory.

The app additionally includes the SCORECARD, which uses a graphic interface to offer a simple and up-to-date, top-view summary of a writer’s royalties for both current and historic periods. Through SCORECARD clients can also drill down further to access in-depth information about their earnings in exceptional granular detail.

Sony/ATV Chairman and CEO Martin Bandier said: “At Sony/ATV we are committed to providing our songwriters and their teams with an unrivalled level of transparency and service, which includes giving them access to the most highly-detailed royalty information available. The launch of the SCORE app is an important next step in us delivering on that promise and now means our writers can obtain an unsurpassed insight into their historic and current period earnings with one simple click.”

Dale Esworthy, Sony/ATV Senior Vice President, Worldwide Administration, said: “The SCORE app is one more way to connect to our writers. Every day our admin teams around the world are working on behalf of all our writers – to register, license, collect and pay – and the results of all this work are now even more visible to the writers on a continual basis. We are proud to offer this level of service and detail to all our writers around the globe.”

Grammy-nominated and 2016 ACM and BMI Songwriter Of The Year Ross Copperman, who has written for artists including Kenny Chesney, Brett Eldredge and Keith Urban, said: “Sony/ATV continues to pursue fair compensation for songwriters and, at the same time, makes worldwide information related to my songs easily accessible to me.”

Grammy-winning songwriter Chris DeStefano, whose hits include songs for Luke Bryan, Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood, added: “I’m grateful to have a publisher partner like Sony/ATV who continually provides me with relevant, easy to access information about my songs.”

SCORE is the biggest and most comprehensive royalty portal in music publishing, incorporating more songs and more songwriters than any other comparable system. It is powered by Sony/ATV’s industry-leading TEMPO system and offers a state-of-the-art, global centralised database, highly accurate and transparent data from an ever-growing number of income sources worldwide, and industry-leading analysis of royalties by song title, income source, time period and territory.

The portal is overseen by an administration team which utilises Sony/ATV’s worldwide network of local creative and administration teams, giving its clients both global reach and a personal touch. The company’s songwriters and their teams are able to obtain administrative support in their own territory directly from local administration staff, all of whom are experts in their field and have a passion for the music they represent. In addition, they are able to utilise their close relationships with the relevant societies and their colleagues around the world to accurately register songs and collect royalties.

The portal and its accompanying app are part of Sony/ATV’s ongoing efforts to provide the company’s songwriters and their teams with a level of service and transparency unmatched in music publishing.
