DDB North America gives Skittles the Gogglebox treatment with Facebook Live reaction video
‘Gee willikers’. Well we may not get a chance to ever see the 2018 Skittles Super Bowl spot but Marcos Menendez, the teenager selected for an exclusive one-person viewing, certainly seemed to enjoy it.  The spot starred David Schwimmer and has devised by DDB North America.
Sitting alone in a set made up to be a very ‘70s front room, Marcos was treated to a live screening of the spot – the live feed was broadcast on Facebook following the first quarter of the game. Following the screening Marcos left the set to be greeted by his parents who, it transpires, helped facilitate the stunt by allowing the crew to shoot the spot at their house and take wardrobe notes from Marcos. Marcos mother even appeared the post ‘mad dogging’ (giving evil looks at) David Schwimmer.

41,000 people watched the reveal on Facebook and Marcos then took part in a Q&A. “This was more than just the best Skittles, it’s one of the best commercials I seen in my entire life, actually,” said Marcos, who also described the spot as ‘close to home’. Scenes from the ad were even filmed in Marcos’ dining room.
In the weeks leading up to the Super Bowl, the brand teased several possibilities for the spot, each featuring David Schwimmer in a different get up. In the end, the version of Schwimmer featured in the ad was the glowing-eyed, bowl-cut iteration – according to Marcos, the spot saw Schwimmer turn people into Skittles using his laser powers.
