Simon Ratigan for Total Greek Yoghurt

Simon Ratigan delivers a finely crafted piece of filmmaking in his stunning new TV commercial for TOTAL Greek Yoghurt, with AMV BBDO. Set in rural Greece, ʻNineteen Twenty Thirteenʼ tells the story of a mischievous boy embarking on a mission, but all is not what it seems.

To get the aged look and feel that was fundamental to the story, Simon shot on 35mm film with vintage lenses and used a tailor-made processing technique. The vintage look was achieved by returning to traditional filmmaking techniques; experimenting with underexposed negative and by creating multiple prints from which the final grade was made. Crucially, achieving the hand-tinted effect involved a painstaking process of isolating and enhancing specific areas of colour, which ultimately gave the commercial the beautiful, authentic 1920ʼs look that Simon envisaged.
