Pat Holden, writer and director of features Awaydays and When the Lights Went Out, has created a new spot for Royal Bank of Scotland called Here for You. Shot over three days across seven locations in and around Glasgow, Holden’s approach was to bring the production values and qualities of the best independent feature films combined with the single minded focus of the greatest ads. Using two Alexa cameras, Ken Loach’s casting agent, a cast of 35 and a crew of 65 to create the performance piece, the vignettes became self-contained stories that live and breathe whilst showcasing rbs’s customer service is available 24 hours a day.
Continuing the campaign’s effortlessly human and Scottish feel, importance lay in strong casting for believability with a cross section of established and new Scottish talent and crew – Gordon Brown (Only God Forgives, Bronson, Valhalla Rising) appears in the commercial
