For the new book, over 40 marketing chiefs were invited to a personal shoot in Rankin’s London studio and to share their philosophy of what creativity looks like
Iconic photographer and cultural provocateur, Rankin; Suki Thompson chair and co-founder of marketing consultancy Oystercatchers [part of Xeim Group] and influencer marketer The Fifth, announce the launch of Creative Influence, a book which celebrates creative trail-blazers in modern marketing.

Creative Influence aims to laser focus the power of creativity and its critical role in business.

Suki Thompson explained: “In a world dominated by data discussion, I believe that creativity is the true power force behind commercial growth. It creates not just works of art but ‘arts of work’ - solving strategic challenges, and, surprising, delighting and changing behaviour.

“Behind every great campaign there is a great marketer passionate about creative. Creative Influence showcases some of the most influential creative leaders in marketing today – recognised stars who nurture, persuade and break the rules to trailblaze creativity with purpose.”

Over 40 marketing chiefs behind some of the UK’s best loved brands were invited to a personal shoot in Rankin’s London studio and to share their philosophy of what creativity looks like. Included are: Kerris Bright, chief customer officer, BBC; Syl Saller, chief marketing & innovation officer, Diageo; John Rudaizky, partner, global brand & marketing leader, EY; Ellie Norman, director of marketing & communications F1; David Wheldon, CMO, RBS; Keith Weed, former chief marketing & communications Officer, Unilever.

Rankin, photographer and founder of The RANKIN Group, said: “To me, creativity is about getting individuals to see things from a different perspective, while expanding your own unique outlook. Hopefully, we can all do this together to help make the world a better place!”

Oliver Lewis, founder and managing director, THE FIFTH, added: “Here at The Fifth we are delighted to partner Oystercatchers and Rankin in this book.  I am honoured in this small way to be part of their vision and true celebration of talent, inclusivity and creativity. I hope that we inspire more to follow suit and champion creative diversity and positive change.”

Oystercatchers has been an active champion of creativity across business – with creativity at the heart of Oystercatchers’ Club events and industry conversations on the Oystercatchers’ platform. It is a critical outcome of the Oystercatchers pitch process.

Creative Influence was conceived initially in 2018 as a photography exhibition with Rankin to celebrate game-changing creative marketers and unveiled at The Festival of Marketing 2018. Appetite within the brand community to broaden content and insights led to Rankin and Thompson committing to the stand-alone book.
