On the morning of December 22nd, 2015 Noel Clancy's wife Geraldine and daughter Louise were tragically killed in a crash involving an unaccompanied learner driver.

Noel, from Kilworth, County Cork was used to a family life full of chatter and laughter. All that ended when his wife Geraldine and daughter Louise were hit while driving into Cork City, by an unaccompanied learner driver. They were killed, and Noel was forced to pick up the broken pieces.

This message from the Irish Road Safety Authority, created by BBDO Dublin, is simple - if you let a learner drive unaccompanied, you’re putting them and everyone on the road at risk.

On December 21st 2018 after two years of persistent campaigning Noel successfully changed the law in Ireland. This new law states that going forward car owners who allow unaccompanied learner drivers to use their vehicles will face prosecution.

In the film for the Irish Road Safety Authority ‘Crashed Lives’, Noel bravely and with dignity narrates the tragic circumstances that led to the deaths of Geraldine and Louise.

“This is Noel's story - a story of an unaccompanied learner leading to an unaccompanied life, and it's one we wish we didn't have to tell,” stated BBDO Dublin.
