In the run-up to this year’s Immortal Awards, our jurors will each select an ad that they believe deserves the title of Immortal.

Kerstin Emhoff, co-founder and president of Prettybird, is the latest juror to dip into the Nike archive.

Read below to discover what iconic Nike piece she has chosen.

My immortal ad is Nike’s If You Let Me Play, created by Wieden + Kennedy and directed by Sam Bayer.

If You Let Me Play | Nike (Wieden + Kennedy, 1995)

This ad was created 23 years ago! That is way before the Dove’s “Real Beauty” series or “Like a Girl”. It holds up right there with the most inspiring and ground-breaking work of today. What struck me in this spot was the simplicity and elegance of the copy-writing, along with the honest performances of the girls. There was no blame or shame. They weren’t just talking to men, they were talking to everyone. When this ad aired in 1995, a lot of women’s sports in high school and college didn’t exist. It’s so rare when an ad is truly timeless, but this one is. Thank you Nike for being a brave client and a supporter of women before many others were!

Kerstin Emhoff will be judging this year's The Immortal Awards. Entries are now open to all Little Black Book members, so head over to the submissions page to submit your best work. If you aren't a member of Little Black Book yet, then you can subscribe here.
