The Immortal Awards juror and MPC managing director pays her respect to Yankees legend Derek Jeter
In the run-up to this year’s Immortal Awards, our jurors will each select an ad that they believe deserves the title of Immortal. There's only a few days left to get your work in to this year's competition, so start your path to immortality today by submitting here. Angela Lupo, managing director of MPC New York, pays her respect to Yankees legend Derek Jeter...

Nike Jordan Brand 'Re2pect' (Wieden+Kennedy, 2014)

‘Re2pect’ still gives me goosebumps every time I watch it. The way that everyone -  from Spike Lee and Michael Jordan, to even the Yankee haters - tip their caps to Jeter is just so impactful.

It’s a true example of how people can be moved by the power of visuals alone. In fact, the only words that are spoken are “Derek Jeter” at the very end. Nothing else needs to be said. No explanation is needed.

No other baseball players of our lifetime have ever evoked the need for such a heartfelt tribute, and the fact it comes from such an iconic brand like Jordan Brand, which has nothing to do with the sport, shows the respect that Jeter gained from everyone. Being a New York native myself, this ad is very special to me, and its airing the during the all-start game was so on point. The NY Yankees without Jeter was just unthinkable to so many. Oh, the tears!
