Merkle, the data-driven performance marketing agency, has announced the appointment of Claire Billings to vice president of marketing, Europe.
In her new role, Billings will focus on supporting the growth of Merkle Europe by bringing strong leadership and a unified approach to marketing in the region. In the last 18 months, the company has grown rapidly to over 850 people in six offices in two markets with its acquisition of Periscopix, DBG, Comet, Aquila, and Divisadero.
“I’m excited to join Merkle during a critical stage in its European growth trajectory,” said Billings. “This is a great opportunity to help bring to market Merkle’s people-based marketing expertise. At a time when consumers expect brands to know who they are and what they want, Merkle enables companies to deliver addressability at scale through data, technology, and customer strategy.”
Billings is an accomplished agency marketing specialist. She has nearly eight years’ experience building media, CRM, and digital agency brands with a results-driven approach that focuses on driving awareness and understanding of agency propositions and expertise.
In addition to her extensive marketing experience, Billings was a respected journalist for over a decade working with leading marketing and media trade press. She joins Merkle from MEC, where she was responsible for building the brand in the UK to support new business, talent acquisition, and client growth. Prior to MEC, Billings was the head of marketing and communications at RAPP, where she oversaw the marketing and communications strategy across its data, CRM, and media agencies.
“Claire’s wealth of experience and proven success as a marketing and communications leader make her a perfect fit for Merkle as it establishes itself as the authority in people-based marketing in the UK and Europe,” said Tim Berry, President, Merkle Europe. “She will be a tremendous asset to these teams as we continue to expand our global footprint and leadership position in Europe.”
