Sandra studied a Fine Arts Degree in Barcelona, graduating as an Advanced Technician In Audiovisuals and Production and has now created work for a series of clients so  Big Bouy sat down with her to discuss her opinions, career and her plans for the future

Read Sandra's short interview below to get to know more about this amazing animator-designer, her favourite things to create and her advice for budding creatives.

Q> Did you always want to be an Animation Director? Tell us a bit about how you got into the industry?

Sandra Clua> Growing up, I studied Fine Art in Barcelona as a student, but I always knew living as an artist would be testing. Luckily for me, I discovered video and began my career creating storyboards for moving image, eventually moving on to graphics and animation, practising on my own projects in my free time.

Q> Who or what are your inspirations?

SC> It’s usually when I’m busy that I get my best ideas. I really like giving my projects social content, so when I got the opportunity to create a social project for International Women’s Day in collaboration with Skinny Dip’s Instagram account, I jumped at the chance! is I also love going to new gigs and exhibitions-art and music are both real inspirations in my work.

Q> Which jobs have you enjoyed working on recently that have challenged you to work in new ways?

SC> I’ve just finished working on an animation for XL Catlin. The concept is extremely fast-paced with a lot of different scenes, but I’m always up for the challenge and so far it’s been so much fun to work on. I’m also directing a few new projects which I can’t openly speak about…watch this space! Whatever the project, seeing my work in the outside word always reminds me of how lucky I am to do a job that I love.

Q> What are your favourite things to create?

SC> Things that are personal to me. The project ‘Super Ginjol’- an animation of a woman fighting off demons-mirrors my ideas on feminism. Creating art with meaning will always be what I enjoy and will continue to create.

Q> What advice would you offer to aspiring animation artists/ designers trying to break through into the industry?

SC> Never stop experimenting. Always use personal projects to practice new skills and never stop creating.
