Mass Minority has announced the appointment of Brent Rivard as President, reporting directly to the Founder and CCO, Brett Channer. In his new role, Rivard will oversee all operations of Mass Minority including business growth, operations, client retention, expansion into technology software, and all in-house content production.

“We looked globally for the right person, preferring someone with an MBA. They had to have global experience, network business and operations experience, and a mindset for disrupting a category for positive change. They also had to believe in the power of creativity to drive business in a technology age. Brent fit the bill perfectly,” said Channer.

Rivard comes to the new role with more than 17 years of industry experience, global business management, global operations experience and an MBA from Richard Ivey School of Business. He has a proven track record of growing and sustaining global enterprise business, establishing brand platforms that inspire long-term creative ideas, and recognising the power of regional tactics to drive sales.

Previously, Rivard led AB InBev’s Global Budweiser business for Anomaly, where he also held a seat on the agency’s New York Executive Leadership Team. Before that, as a senior executive at BBDO on the Mercedes-Benz, Molson, and Cara accounts, he dramatically improved operations and drove positive returns. Rivard’s CV also includes stints at Doner and Lowe Roche, as well as Saatchi & Saatchi, where Channer was a Creative Director.

“Brett and his creative partner, Doug Bramah, were two of my mentors at Saatchi, and we’ve stayed in touch over all these years. Brett called me out of the blue about this opportunity; I wasn’t even close to looking for a new challenge since I was working at one of the best agencies in the world on the largest global alcohol brand. That said, Brett’s story about what Mass Minority is doing with creative and technology intrigued me. It felt like they were onto something big … something badly needed in the industry. Seeing the volume of breakthrough digital, design, and content work they had completed in less than two years – and how they were leveraging technology and data – I just had to be part of this company,” said Rivard.

Work that Rivard has been associated with has been recognized with multiple awards, including wins at Cannes, the Effie Awards, and the One Show, among others.

Rivard will move from New York to Toronto to join Mass Minority at their head office. His official start date is December 2nd.
