MAPP has joined Snapper Films for commercial representation in the UK.
MAPP first caught Snapper’s attention with his hilarious mockumentary-style commercial for Peelz. The one featuring the absurd, deluded yet, endearingly determined ‘John Birk’ who, after graduating from the ‘Institute of Citrus Technology’ is confronted with the growing realisation that his job is, in fact, utterly pointless.
Unlike John Birk, MAPP finds a lot of meaning in his work, tackling a wide range of important topics. Topics that range from how to handle the politics of the annual office secret Santa, what to do if an army of possessed eight-year-old beauty pageant contestants starts chasing you (scream) and how to handle a T-Rex turning up in your prime delivery. He is the man you want with you in the apocalypse, mainly because he would make some brilliant content from it.
MAPP began his career as an art director and later became an award-winning creative director whose commercial “Lamp” for IKEA won Grand Clio and Grand Prix at Cannes. MAPP began directing with a spot for MINI called “Ahhhhhh.!” and never looked back. He figured that if he could cope with screaming children on set for two days then he could probably hack the trials and tribulations of being a commercials director.
Since that realisation, he has honed his filmmaking craft, creating commercials pierced by his trademark sharp comedic dialogue. He crafts quirky, loveable characters that reflect humanity at our hyperbolic best, bought to life by his exquisite shots and meticulous scores.
MAPP currently lives his best life near multiple bodies of water in northern California that he describes as ‘A bit cold and sharky’ with his wife and two kids. Despite the fact this his favourite colour is Grey, ‘Not warm grey or cool grey, I prefer good old neutral grey’, we believe that MAPP will colour the UK commercial landscape with vibrancy, originality and hilarity. We are delighted to welcome him to Snapper.
Helen Hadfield comments: "Mapp is undoubtedly a one-off, a rare talent who has an infectiously original take on every story that he directs. His distinctive, bold comedic tone is impossible to ignore. Driven by an unrelenting love of his craft, his films are brimming with passion and humour. He is an absolute delight as a human being. We are feeling very lucky to have him join us at Snapper. Having made an ad in the Drum's top 5 and received the glowing five stars on DavidReviews in recent months, we think his knack for brilliant ideas and uniquely dry humour will make an impact in the UK marketplace."view more - Hires, Wins & BusinessSnapper Films, Tue, 25 Jan 2022 16:49:08 GMT
