Nainita is the BAFTA Breakthrough Brit 2016/17 and has written scores for numerous Bafta, Emmy, Oscar award-winning films and TV shows

Recently, Nainita has written the music for ‘Earth’s Natural Wonders’ and ‘Rituals’, both natural history documentaries for BBC.

She is also the winner of the Music+Sound Award 2016 for Best Feature Film Score, a Women in Sync Awards 2016 Nominee, RTS Craft Award 2014 Nominee for Best Original Music and RTS Scotland Awards 2014 Nominee.

I was bowled over when the BBC approached me to write the opening theme of their broadcast of the Royal Wedding. It’s an honour to write for two British institutions and will probably be my largest single audience ever!

I also had the privilege of recording with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales who were incredibly generous and accommodating with our tight schedule.

The brief was to not write a piece that is regal, old fashioned or traditional. Meghan is bringing a fresh sense of modernity to the Royal Family, appealing to a younger generation, and the piece had to reflect those younger values whilst still retaining a sense of grandeur and sense of occasion.

The theme will open the broadcasts on Friday 17th BBC1 7pm

Saturday 18th at 9am on BBC1 and 7pm on BBC2: The Royal Wedding: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle and will also be covered worldwide on BBC America, BBC Canada and BBC World News.

The presenters include Kirsty Young, Anita Rani, and Dermot O’Leary.
