Manners McDade Mood Music: Alpine by Christian Löffler
Since I can remember Winter has always been the most influential time of the year for me especially the time before Christmas. The short days and the cold weather help me to stay focused and as I live in a coastal village all the touristic life comes to a full stop. Apart from having a walk through the woods and along the lonely beaches there's basically nothing else that could turn me away from working. It's like this again this winter. I'm taking a break from touring to focus on writing new music.
The writing process is quite different to the rest of the year having all day and night to develop and experiment with new ways of finding sounds and melodies. It allows me to follow paths I probably wouldn't have taken if I only had a few hours off in a hotel room or at the airport.
For my creativity it's highly refreshing when everything slows down.
Christian recently signed to Manners McDade Music Publishing.
Being asked to describe his own music, Christian states that he tries to combine melancholy with euphoria. “All my music is connected by a gloomy spirit, which is minted by a warm sincerity. I try to merge all kinds of different acoustic colors to obtain this feeling in my music.”. His music is electronic, interspersed with real world recordings.
His second album, Young Alaska, was released last year and was described by Resident Advisor as “an album that takes your heart in its hands and squeezes hard”. Christian is also an incredible live performer, and is performing regularly as he builds up to his next release.
