BBDO NY created the M&M's first big game film following the Mars brand's 3-year hiatus from advertising on the night
Having thoroughly disturbed us last week with a teaser depicting Danny DeVito bathing in a pool of molten chocolate, M&M’s has released its Super Bowl ad, which will air on the night of the big game (Sunday, February 4th).

The campaign was created by BBDO New York and directed by Wayne McClammy at Hungry Man.

The film features the ‘Always Sunny in Philadelphia’ star in another bizarre scenario. The confectionery brand’s mascot Red wishes to become human so that people would stop wanting to eat him. His wish is granted - he transforms into a human and, more specifically, takes on Danny’s world-famous form.

The actor joked in an interview with PEOPLE that he had to put on a bit of weight to make sure his body looked more like Red’s: “Becoming Red was something really natural for me because I kind of look a little bit like him. Actually I’m in better shape than Red, but don’t tell him—he’s a little bit paunchy,” he said. “But listen, we worked that out. I put on a couple, I ate a couple good dinners, got a little bit chunky. I was looking like a good Red.”
