Jungle & The Monkeys in Development on New TV Series for Stan

Jungle, in collaboration with The Monkeys, has a new comedy series in development with Subscription Video on Demand (SVOD) service Stan called Merchants of Misery.

Says Jason Burrows, managing director/EP television at Jungle on producing with The Monkeys: "We've been looking for a television series to work on together for a while now so it's brilliant to have something in development. Obviously the guys have great ideas but they are also great collaborators so are a total pleasure to work with."

Jungle's Trent O'Donnell who is the creator of No Activity and the series director of New Girl for Fox in the USA, is a writer/ director on the series. No Activity, also a Jungle production and Stan's first original production, received three Logies nominations, the first nominations for an SVOD service. Co-writing will be Bryce Corbett. Justin Drape will be a contributing writer and an executive producer.

Says Nick Forward, chief content officer, Stan: "The ambition for Stan Originals was to make Australian content, but world-class Australian content. Stan wants to have original productions that stand up to the same quality of its other big content deals, including AMC's Better Call Saul and the Showtime output deal."
