DDB Paris teams with the legendary Die Hard director for Ubisoft's latest release

Legendary director John McTiernan (Die Hard, Predator) has directed this action-packed spot for the release of Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands.

'Ruthless', created by DDB Paris, takes you deep into the game’s story set against a Bolivia in the grip of the merciless Santa Blanca cartel. Through a series of riveting vignettes, we see the suffering of the innocent people and, through their eyes, we understand the need for justice. 'Ruthless' is as human as it is brutal, a glimpse of the world you enter as one of the game’s Ghosts, members of an army special forces unit, as well as the people you will be helping and the deadly enemies that you will face. The viewer is merely a powerless spectator, a witness to the Bolivian people’s suffering.

To convey a scenario so epic, DDB Paris turned to one of filmdom’s most ingenious talents. “We had the ambition to make more than an action commercial, but 2 minutes of a feature film with faces that stay with you and a story that leaves you asking for more. Each image had to stand out and be iconic… we didn’t need a master action movie director. We needed a master storyteller,” explains DDB Paris Executive Creative Director Alexander Kalchev.

“Ruthless” is the second film in the Ghost Recon Wildlands campaign. “Red Dot”, a teaser released earlier this year, was also created by DDB Paris and was directed by John McTiernan. While the first instalment showed the brutal and merciless efficiency of the Ghosts, “Ruthless” shows us why they are so sorely needed, why, for the cartel’s victims, they are salvation incarnate.
