2AM director's feature documentary starring The Maccabees set to launch

Elephant and Castle is a place where its diversity seems to be its uniqueness, where market traders and craftsman still exist amongst its high street, as does community and values.

‘Elephant Days’ follows several stories over a period of two years - a philosophical tailor called George, a Pie and Mash shop celebrating their 100th year, Mama BB who seems to be performing miracles and Richard who creates gardens in derelict roundabouts.

Amongst these and other stories, the highly acclaimed band The Maccabees’ 4th studio album “Marks to Prove it’ is being made. With their studio embedded in the heart of Elephant & Castle, we see their music come to life and stories unfold.

With the Elephant and Castle on the verge of dramatic redevelopment and entire communities being thrust out of the area, ‘Elephant Days’ asks ‘How in this changing landscape can these peoples’ sense of community, passion and values survive?’

Elephant Days is a ‘feel good’ lyrical documentary where the relationship of Music and landscape merge. Shot over two years and delicately crafted by the filmmakers, these intimate portraits give us deep insight into what is really at threat when mass redevelopment encroaches.

Highlighting a part of London where a way of life is in danger of disappearing entirely, The Maccabees music which ‘belongs in the area’ forms the central score to the film.
