Introducing 'Embarrassed', a Short Film About Modern Breastfeeding

Hollie McNish is a published UK poet and spoken word artist who straddles the boundaries between the literary, poetic and pop scenes. Hollies online videos have repeatedly gone viral, with Mathematics, a poem focusing on UK immigration, receiving over 1 million YouTube views in just over a week. Her incredible poem “Embarrassed” attacks everything from aggressive formula marketing to the double standard of anti-breastfeeding discrimination in a world of “billboards covered in tits.” Unsurprisingly this blew up the Internet in equal measure, inspiring articles and comment all over the world.

And so Indy8 has opened a Kickstarter page to bring 'Embarrassed' to life in visual form. As of yet Hollie's poems have remained very pure performance based with her appearing against black delivering her astonishing performance to a lo-fi sound and image. For all of that lack of production her poems carry themselves with such wonderful delivery that no impact is lost. Indy8 wants to make a film that maintains the essence of Hollies talents as a performer but elevate the experience to make it more cinematic and introduce visual elements to bring the poem to life.
