Hecho Studios Positions for Future, Unveils Leadership Team

Briony McCarthy, formerly of Media Agency PHD, joins as president

Hecho Studios has unveiled its leadership team with Briony McCarthy serving as president. Briony joins chief content officer Tom Dunlap and executive creative director Gui Borchert, bringing more than 20 years of creative media expertise to the group. By combining their diverse capabilities, the leadership trio will work together to position Hecho as a creative studio breaking down the walls between creative, production and media.

“We each come from varying backgrounds, but it’s our collective approach - the combination of our individual crafts - that makes what we have to offer brands feel so different,” says Briony. “Clients are noticing the difference and we love seeing how amped they are to get solutions that are truly market ready. Brands who want to make a cultural impact need ideas they can press play on and that’s what Hecho Studios offers.”

The creative studio is already working with brands spanning entertainment, sports, technology, retail and media. The team recently completed projects for CBS, Google, TOMS, Adobe, Pinterest, Syfy, and NBCUniversal. Alongside their brand work, the company is launching a division dedicated to the development and production of original entertainment with several feature films, TV and streaming projects already underway.

“At Hecho Studios we’re building a culture of creators who are passionate about the projects they’re working on allowing us to get to great ideas fast and bring them to life in extraordinary ways,” says Gui. “More often than not, great ideas fall off the wall simply because they have nowhere to live. With Briony’s innate understanding of how ideas will play out in the media world, we can give them a real purpose and place.”

“Briony’s business acumen combined with her strategic media experience completes our vision for Hecho Studios,” says Tom. “The combination of Gui as creator, myself as maker, and Briony as activator is already having a massive impact on our company and our product. Together we’re developing Hecho’s narrative and we’re all looking forward to what this next chapter has in store.”

Prior to joining Hecho Studios, Briony served as president of PHD New York where she delivered breakthrough media strategies for iconic brands such as HBO, Delta Airlines, MailChimp, Ferrero and Old Navy. In her new role, Briony will be responsible for leading Hecho’s continued growth, championing the company’s modern approach to talent and casting and making sure more great ideas get unleashed into the world.

Tom and Gui previously worked at 72andSunny, as chief production officer and group creative director respectively. Tom has more than two decades of advertising and entertainment experience working with agencies and production companies such as the Ridley Scott Creative Group. Gui also has nearly 20 years of experience in the industry, during which time he has worked on major campaigns for Starbucks, Google and Nike among many others.
