gyro has appointed Mike Harris as Global Chief Strategy Officer, Technology.

Harris has a long history of excellence working on the world’s top brands. He will leverage his unique insights and expertise to drive gyro and its valued client HP into unprecedented territories.

Most recently, Harris was Global Chief Strategy Officer at 180 where he led the creation of HP’s iconic “Keep Reinventing” platform.

Harris began his career on the account side at Y&R working on Chevron’s “Talking Cars” campaign. Twenty years later it is still running. After much success at Goodby Silverstein & Partners and TBWA\Chiat\Day, he co-founded 215McCann while also serving as EVP, Global Creative Strategist for McCann Worldgroup handling the Coca-Cola business. He was also President and CEO of DDB Tribal and Remedy on the West Coast where he helped reshape their strategic process around the world.

Harris’ work has won every award in the industry including multiple CLIOs, One Show Pencils, D&AD Pencils, Effie Awards and Lions (including 3 Grand Prix). Plus, his work helped Microsoft and adidas become Cannes Marketers of the Year.

Harris will be based at gyro San Francisco and report to gyro Global CEO+CCO Christoph Becker.

“There is nothing more powerful than human relevance in business and Mike is a true representation of that. He is business-savvy, obsessed with creative excellence and fluent in all of the new technologies that are driving the future of our business,” said Becker. “Mike’s arrival is clear proof of the power of gyro’s talent magnet and I only expect great things to come at this powerful moment in our history.”

“I feel that so many agencies are missing the point these days and it’s killing our industry. They are missing the point that our job is to help our clients grow their business through creativity,” Harris said. “gyro was built with exactly this in mind. We must understand the business objectives of a client and then use creativity to help get them there.”

Outside of the office, Harris is a guest lecturer at the University of Oregon and sits on the advisory board of an exciting Silicon Valley food technology startup called Innit.
