The movement is aimed to identify and celebrate people of colour in marketing and advertising at the Cannes Lions Festivals
On Wednesday, June 21, FCB Global, in collaboration with the I.D.E.A. Initiative (I.D.E.A.), held a #CreativityInColor social media event to identify and celebrate marketing and advertising people of color attending the illustrious 64th annual Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, the global home of creativity. Formed by a group of leaders in the technology, entertainment, advertising, media and marketing (TEAMM) industries, I.D.E.A. highlights executives of color and provides forums in which they can discuss industry challenges and opportunities for growth.

With this social movement (found on Instagram as @CreativityInColor or with the hashtag #CreativityInColor), FCB has become I.D.E.A.’s first-ever partner to increase diversity in marketing and advertising. This partnership will serve to bring a business lens to the imperative conversation about workplace diversity and inclusion.

The #CreativityInColor event was kicked off and hosted by FCB Worldwide CEO Carter Murray; FCB EVP and Chief Strategy Officer, Vita Harris; Christian Borges, senior vice president of marketing of true[X], Fox Advanced Platforms and I.D.E.A. board director and founding I.D.E.A. member; and Danny Wright, Managing Partner Awards/Honors/Events at Adweek, I.D.E.A. board director and founding I.D.E.A. member.

“Recognising the worldwide industry influence of Cannes, where creatives are celebrated and awarded for their work, this was the absolute perfect place to launch a movement such as #CreativityInColor. FCB strives to grow our family of diverse professionals and, more importantly, move the industry forward. We’re proud to be I.D.E.A.’s first-ever partner and encourage other agencies to join us,” said FCB Worldwide CEO Carter Murray.

Highlighting that in corporate businesses, the multicultural conversation is often led by HR, I.D.E.A. calls for business leaders to lead the charge. Moreover, I.D.E.A. is home to the most complete list of multicultural business leaders in the business, connecting their leadership pipeline of emerging talent to today's leaders. FCB looks forward to serving this pipeline of talent.

“We are thankful for the opportunity that FCB provided for us to be a part of Creativity in Color at Cannes, and have a platform to not only inform the creative class about I.D.E.A., but celebrate those who are on the ground making moves in their respective industries,” said Christian Borges, senior vice president of marketing of true[X], founding I.D.E.A. board director and founding I.D.E.A. member.

FCB Global will continue to monitor the hashtag #CreativityInColor to learn more about potential talent and to celebrate the diversity of marketing and advertising. In keeping with this goal, FCB fully commits to supporting I.D.E.A.’s mission and encourages other agencies to follow suit.
