TBWA\Helsinki launches thought-provoking film directed by Tobias Granström

Clean energy company Fortum’s new campaign draws a parallel between people’s relationship with nature to their relationship with their mother. Created by TBWA\Helsinki, the aim of the campaign to start a discussion on environmental issues.

In Fortum’s new film we can hear a man contemplating his relationship with his mother, it’s as if we are hearing a letter written to her. As we all know a mother’s love knows no boundaries. She never judges or belittles us, even during times of recklessness. She always gives us everything we need and more. Now it’s time for us to take care of our common mother – Mother Earth.

“Fortum is a company with a purpose. It’s important for us to take action and ensure that we are moving towards a cleaner world. We aren’t just an energy company. We have a vast array of operations in the clean energy and recycling field,” says Jussi Mälkiä, brand manager at Fortum.

“Maternal care is a spot-on allegory for the impact that the world has had on mankind. A mother gives her child unconditional love in the same way that the world gives everything we could ever need,” says Joni Furstenborg, associate creative director of TBWA\Helsinki.

”The idea of a letter to our mother was the jumping off point for the film but we quickly realised that if we are all children of the world then we have been real brats. We all have to grow up if we want to ensure that those who come after us will be able to enjoy everything that Mother Earth has to offer,” explains Lauri Gran, senior creative of TBWA\Helsinki.

The new brand film was created by a Finnish-Swedish creative team. The idea behind the film came from TBWA\Helsinki and it was produced by the Swedish production company Bleck. The film was directed by Tobias Granström.

The new brand film 'Mother' film will air in Finland, Sweden and Norway this spring.
