Emerging Director Emily Avila Premiere's New Short Film 'Fitting' at Sydney Film Festival

Emerging director and Taxi's ADG mentee, Emily Avila, debuted her new short film, 'Fitting', at a sold out gala screening at the Sydney Film Festival last week.

Avila is a recipient of the Lexus Australian Short Film Fellowship for Fitting, one of four Australian writer-directors awarded $50,000 to produce their short films and introduce their work.

Fitting continues to show Avila's flair for stories with unusual perspectives with the film unfolding almost entirely within the fitting room of a lingerie department store and features Deborah Leiser-Moore and Clementine Anderson.

Part of Screen Australia's Gender Matters: Brilliant Careers initiative, the mentorship is designed to  accelerate her growth as a director and build her understanding of the commercial content space.

Avila joins Taxi as part of Screen Australia's Gender Matters: Brilliant Careers initiative that pairs emerging female directors with commercial production companies to gain an insight into life as a director in the commercial space.
