Gareth joins the team from The Whitehouse

Speade is very pleased to welcome Editor Gareth McEwen to its roster.

‘Not only is he a terrific Editor’ comments company founder, Sam Sneade, ‘but his winning personality means he will be right at home in the Speade family.’

Gareth brings with him a huge depth of talent and experience. Coming across from The Whitehouse, where he started his career over 15 years ago.

Fascinated from an early age by ‘how TV worked’ he upped sticks from his hometown in Dunfermline, to find his niche in the industry in London. Initially thinking he might get into special effects it was on joining a film club and fooling about on a Steenbeck that he found himself completely absorbed and his interest in editing ignited.

‘I still get excited when raw footage arrives. Nothing beats the thrill of seeing the cut peeking out at you as you get towards it and I really enjoy weedling out a cut that makes the most of the footage and realises the Director’s vision.’

Gareth’s skill and passion has seen him collaborate with many notable Director’s… Darren Aronofsky, Matthew Vaughn, Martin Campbell, Tim Pope, Warren Fu, Paul Hunter, Arni and Kinski, Daniel Levi, Emil Nava, Chris Cottam and Rankin.

He has worked on campaigns for Jaguar, Ford, Sky Dior, Agent Provocateur, Armani, ESPN, Orange and 02 and cut music videos for a wide range of artists such as Madonna, Take That, Orbital, The Libertines, Florence and The Machine and Sigur Ros.  His work on Arni and Kinski’s RED Rush to Zero spot garnered him an AICE Award.

Commenting on his move, Gareth said: ‘I can’t wait to join the gang at Speade – I really clicked with Sam when I met him – he had a similar outlook to me and there’s a real buzz to the place that had me all excited from our first meeting. There’s an ‘all in it together’ mentality that really appeals and an infectious air of enthusiasm.’
